Eastern Columbine (Aquilegia canadensis) is a stunning native perennial known for its delicate, nodding pink and yellow flowers that bring charm and movement to shaded gardens. Blooming in early spring through early summer, this elegant plant provides a vital nectar source for hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees just as they emerge for the season. With its graceful, lacy foliage and adaptable growth habit, eastern columbine thrives as a ground cover or a climber, making it ideal for fences, trellises, or woodland edges.

Key Features:

  • Early-Season Blooms: One of the first flowers to bloom in spring, offering essential nectar for hummingbirds and pollinators.
  • Wildlife Support: Attracts and nourishes hummingbirds, butterflies, moths, and bees while adding beauty to naturalized areas.
  • Adaptable Growth: Works as a low-growing ground cover or can climb when supported by fences, trellises, or arches.
  • Shade Loving: Thrives in full shade to part shade, perfect for woodland gardens and under trees.
  • Low Maintenance: Once established, requires little water and no chemicals, making it an excellent choice for sustainable gardening.
  • Deer Resistant: Naturally unappealing to deer, ensuring lasting blooms in your garden.
  • Small But Mighty: This plant is often shorter than other species at the time of shipment but once established, it will quickly grow up to 3 feet tall. Don't underestimate the mighty Eastern Columbine!
  • Pollinator-Safe: Grown non-GMO and free of harmful neonicotinoids, promoting a healthy ecosystem for pollinators and wildlife.

Available in sets of three, six, or 12  plants to suit gardens of any size.

Why Choose Eastern Columbine?

Eastern Columbine is a versatile and easy-care plant that enhances shaded landscapes while supporting pollinators early in the season. Whether cascading along woodland paths, climbing on trellises, or filling in garden borders, its elegant flowers and feathery foliage bring color, texture, and ecological benefits to any space.

Planting Tips:

  1. Location: Prefers part shade to full shade with well-drained soil.
  2. Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots; tolerates drier conditions once established.
  3. Maintenance: Minimal care required. There's no need to deadhead the flowers, as allowing them to go to seed provides a valuable food source for birds. Leaving the stems standing in the fall offers overwintering sites for beneficial insects. If desired, cut back the stems in late spring after pollinators have emerged.

Dog loved, started to break down after 10 minutes.
Color: Hedgehog, Color: Hedgehog
I don’t know why it’s so difficult to find a quality teething toy that won’t begin to break down within (in this case) the first 10 minutes. I have a 17lb, 5 mos old Bernedoodle and she’d broken two pieces off the snout in 10 minutes and tried eating them. Yeah, yeah, they’d most likely pass - but this shouldn’t happen with a product specifically sold as a dog chew toy and listed for teething. On the plus side, she loves it - but I can’t obsessively monitor her every second of her teething either. Hit with the dog, frustrating for the ‘parent’.

Get this for your teething pup ASAP!!!
Color: Hedgehog
Immediately calmed my Bichon Frise puppy who is going through a tough teething & nipping phase ... None of the other teething toys were really engaging him, so as a result he would get restless and start biting at air, lol. This worked immediately at keeping him occupied and content. It also freezes great for him to cool his gums after a nap. Get this teether, you will not regreat it!

Good for Teething puppies
Color: Teething Stick
After getting my fingers chewed and bitten by my new foster - 8 week old Yorkie , I was desperate to find good teething toys. Fortunately this one arrived quickly. Turned out to be very good for teething puppies! Charlie loves this cooling stick. Once it’s frozen, the cold really seems to soothe his sore gums. The icy part doesn’t stay frozen for long, but it works so well that I bought a second one to keep ready in the freezer while he’s working on the first. Even after it warmed up, he still enjoyed chewing on the soft stuffed part and the tentacles. The product card says not to use it as a chew toy, so supervision is a must, but it held up just fine so far. Overall, this has been a big help during the teething phase — short-lived when frozen, but very effective while it lasts! And worth every penny to save my fingers from being a chew toy.

Bright color and tough skin both great
Color: Regular-Orange, Size: 2.5"(Medium)-12 Pack
These tennis-style balls are, as promised, much tougher and thicker-skinned than an ordinary tennis ball, being made as a fetching ball for dogs. I bought them as foot covers for the legs of walkers used by the elderly, a very popular use. They work extremely well to protect rugs and flooring, and to make a quiet gliding cover, easier for seniors to move smoothly without snags. The usual tennis balls used for this purpose wear out pretty quickly, but this ball was made to be repeatedly fetched and gnawed on by your Rottweiler, so it's a big improvement. You will need a good cutting tool to score in the crosswise slits where you insert the walker leg; it's too tough for your household scissors, but that's just the point, right? It's tough. Very much recommended!
